Based in a fabulous rural setting in the village of Meare, near Glastonbury, Meare Moles Playgroup provides a fun filled, friendly and nurturing setting where children are very much welcomed and valued. We have a wonderful, purpose built building in a safe and secure setting in the grounds of Meare Village Primary School, with whom we have excellent links. We welcome children from age two and a half, and our team of knowledgeable and experienced practitioners provide imaginative and stimulating activities to facilitate a well planned and balanced curriculum. Topics and themes are based around children’s current interests, allowing each individual to build on their own knowledge and abilities to learn, investigate and explore.
The child centred environment allows for indoor and outdoor play with a wide range of activities and experiences. We allow for open ended play based learning, providing versatile resources which enable the children to be creative and problem-solve as they play and to follow their own interests. Practitioners will guide the development of children’s capabilities, consider the individual needs, interests and stage of development of each child and use this information to plan a challenging and enjoyable experience in all areas of learning and development.
We have a range of different surfaced outdoor areas and our wildlife garden attracts lots of ‘minibeasts’ which provides the children with the opportunity to observe and talk about them. The children can use the gardening tools, create many culinary delights at the mud kitchen and to use their imaginations as they play in this small ‘nature’ area.
We have a range of different surfaced outdoor areas and our wildlife garden allows the children to explore and observe a range of natural objects, to dig with tools, use their imagination in the willow house and create many culinary delights at the outdoor mud kitchen. The indoor area allows for different types of play – we have a ‘Home Corner’ area, a book corner, craft corner and provide a range of activities such as construction, malleable materials, mark making and small world.
